DIY Apple Cider Vinegar & Thyme Toner

ACV & Thyme toner inside 30 ml glass container with dropper

I found this DIY while scouring the internet for a cheap and effective toner for my combinational, super sensitive and acne prone skin, that I could whip up anytime at home using minimal and easily available ingredients.

All credit for this toner goes to Lindsay @ Delighted Momma who shared this crazy easy & effective DIY on her site in August, 2012.

So, first I pour the ACV into a 100 ml glass jar, filling it up only half full. Next, I put the glass jar inside another container with hot water to warm up the ACV. I generally do this for around 3-4 minutes. After this, I add 2-3 tablespoon of dried organic thyme. Let this mixture sit undisturbed for like 2-3 hours.

Once the time is over, cover the open top of the glass jar with a small piece of cloth or a strainer, and pour the mixture into a container. I use a small glass bottle with a dropper so that I don’t use the toner in excess. Three to four drops of this toner is enough to cover my entire face, excluding the eyes and lips. I use the toner only at night because it stinks really really bad and for some, it may take some time getting used to. The product absorbs super fast and helps reduce oiliness and any inflammations, both big and small, if used regularly every night.

I think you may like add your favorite herbs or oils into this toner as well to help with the bad smell and to give it more of a punch. Or, you could even use witch hazel or vodka as a substitute for the ACV. Just be careful to choose ingredients that suit your specific skin type.
