Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream

The Egyptian Magic all purpose skin cream is undoubtedly one of the most hyped skin creams in the beauty market. Sadly, more often than not, whenever I excitedly try any  such intensively publicised products, the experience is a negative one.

And so, when I decided to try the egyptian magic cream, I went with my gut and bought the sample size of 3ml for £0.50.

Now, the very first thing I noticed about this cream is that it is NOT a cream but a BALM. A light yellow, greasy, smooth,  weird smelling balm that spreads onto skin with little application of heat or by slight rubbing. The surprising thing about this cult product is that it is made of ONLY six ingredients – Honey, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Royal Jelly, Bee pollen and Bee Propolis. So, that explains the strange smell.

I used the balm all over my face as well as some dry eczema spots on my elbows, only at night. The texture is quite greasy and hence not suitable for day time/summer time use. I’m happy to report that the balm did not irritate or dry out my sensitive, oily, acne prone and dryness prone skin. And, no breakouts either.

I found the 3 ml balm sample to be enough for a week’s usage. However, although my skin was quite happy with the product and I always woke up with soft, clear & moisturized skin, I was unable to find the legendary ‘magic’ in the balm um cream. As for the price, for a 118 ml tub it comes out to be £33.50 (INR 2981.41).

Also, the packaging is a tub which is quite unhygienic. Perhaps, a tube like Weleda skin food would be better? And, since the ingredients are few and 100% natural, I believed that the shelf life would be quite short. But, apparently, the shelf life of the balm is 3 years! Although, I’m not so sure about the effectiveness of the balm for those 3 years.

I think I’ll stick to trying more new creams/balms for now. Toodles..:)

  1. Thanks for sharing this Poo&Kan. Personally, I didn’t really like Egyptian Magic despite it being a cult favourite. I see that you’ve eczema as well. Have you tried Sea Buckthorn Face Oil? It’s life-changing! It is anti-inflammatory meaning it calms itchiness.

Hmm, 3 years sounds fishy. Maybe they mean if we don’t open it, it can sit alone for 3 years? Those ingredients look great to me😁

I’m so curious about this balm now! My current favourite balm is the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 but it has way more ingredients than this one. Also, my skin loves propolis, so I’m psyched to try this one!

Oh, it’s a balm texture and way too thick to be dispensed through a pump. Perhaps a tube would be a good option.

You describe exactly what I think about this product, it’s not a cream nor super magical and is ok but I’m not sure what the hype is all about! So glad I’m not the only one!!

I have one jar. Good for dry and flaky skin, chapped lips too. Too sticky for daily use, I reckon.

If not available locally, u can check out Naturisimo, feelunique, lookfantastic and cultbeauty sites. I personally prefer Naturisimo since they don’t charge shipping fees & u don’t have to pay any customs💪🏻

  17. Bee products work wonders on my skin. I think we have this in our country too. I guess people who are allergic to bee pollen should avoid this

More like moisturiser type of balm (cream). But it has a multitude of uses so best check out their site http://egyptianmagic.com for more ideas😉

  20. I keep thinking about picking it up but the price is a little high for something I’m not sure of. Apparently it works beautifully over blemishes when wearing makeup because it gives makeup something to adhere to. Really enjoyed reading your post!
