My skin is no stranger to Retinol, Retin-A and Retinoid products; I’ve been using these for more than 10 yrs now. However, the only Vitamin A derivative I’ve stuck so far with is Retino-A cream 0.025% by J&J, which is very easily available OTC in Delhi, India. I’m plagued with super sensitive, dryness aaand eczema prone skin that does not tolerate every skincare product I throw at it. So, I’m always on the lookout for new, affordable and effective derivatives. The Ordinary’s Advanced Retinoid 2% is hands-down the BEST Vit A derivative I’ve tried so far.
Following is the list of ingredients of this product:
Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Ethyl Linoleate, Propanediol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Cetearyl Isononanoate, Bisabolol, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, Retinol, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteareth-12, Ceteareth-20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Carrageenan, Xanthan gum, Acacia Senegal Gum, Cetyl Palmitate, Sucrose Laurate, Polysorbate 20, Isoceteth-20, Behentrimonium Chloride, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Disodium EDTA, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.
I don’t like that there are sooo many ingredients in this but it seems to work on my skin without any negative reaction, so I’m sticking with it for now.
The product itself comes inside a super simple (and super chic) matte glass container (30 ml) with a dropper. I have had no issues with the packaging. Two drops of the product are enough for my entire face. There is no smell, which I really like. And the product is a very watery liquid that absorbs super quickly and feels like nothing on the skin. I like to layer mine with moisturizer at night. I do keep this away from my eyes and lips as it tends to dry them. I use this on alternate nights to give my skin a break in between but I’ve found it to be safe to use everyday.
I’ve had no dryness, itchiness, redness, tenderness while using this product. And I’ve noticed less comedones on my skin with smoother feeling surface. I can’t say anything for smoothening of lines as I don’t have any – yet.
I used up a 30 ml bottle in 7 months and am on my second bottle. As I’m travelling to UK very soon, I am going to stock up on this and other TO products. Unfortunately, this product has been replaced with another formula that I am yet to try. Will try it and review soon.
For you guys out there, if you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients posted on TO’s website for the new Retinoid product, give it a definite try!
